To highlight the resort’s European influence the first two CRYSTAL wines chosen were an Alsatian-style BC Gewürztraminer and an exceptional BC Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot. These two wines were procured, processed and finished by Bounty Cellars’ Okanagan winery, and sampled in late 2010 by resort staff, guests, and selected retailers in Alberta and British Columbia.
Since then, continued enthusiasm and demand has inspired the addition of two new wines to the Crystal Collection.
THE WINES
2008 Gewürztraminer
A grape varietal with 1,000 years of history beginning in the South Tyrol of Austria and Northern Italy, Gewürztraminer recognizes the resort's distinguished ownership, while honouring the earliest days of Okanagan winemaking, when the best vineyards won top awards for their German-style wines. 375ml $44
2009 Cabernet/Merlot
The Cabernet Sauvignon is a mature and satisfying Red, packed with black raspberry notes and hints of smooth mint and cocoa. 100% British Columbia grapes showcase the increasing wine expertise of Okanagan valley producers. 375ml $44
2010 Riesling/Pinot Gris
Originating in the Rheine and Mosel valleys of Germany, the Riesling grape is rapidly gaining popularity and planted acreage in Canada (BC?) especially in the Pacific Northwest. The Riesling grape’s versatility and range make for a fine single varietal wine or an exquisite complement in a blend. Our blend choice, Pinot Gris, has a well-deserved reputation in the Pacific Northwest as a consistent fruit forward, enjoyable and food-friendly wine. 375ml $40
2008 Meritage
Meritage (rhymes with heritage) is the descriptor used to identify North American wine that strives to replicate the blend style achieved by the First Growths of Bordeaux. This Meritage is a splendid blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc; harvested from the finest vineyards of the Pacific Northwest. 375ml $40
