Salt Steam
Halotherapy (halo is the Greek work for salt) involves breathing in of salty air. The salt steam is a modern therapy that improves our respiratory function by combining ancient roman traditions of steam baths with modern knowledge of the medicinal befits of salt.  How it works; inhaling salt particles may reduce inflammation and mucus in the lungs thus improving respiratory conditions. KurSpa’s complimentary Guest amenities include our very own salt steam. Brine-infused water droplets fill the air, simulating a pure natural salt cave. The high salt content cleanses and significantly reduces stress as well as aids in clearing common cold symptoms. Herbal-scents create a comfortable and soothing environment.

Salt Baths
Sea salt is packed with minerals like magnesium, calcium, and potassium which are all beneficial to our skin health. Sea salt baths are therefore an amazing way to treat skin conditions. Salt draws out toxins and impurities in the skin as well as works to treat infections and encourages the healing process. Soaking in a warm bath with the high concentration of health promoting minerals increases your circulation and can naturally improve your skin’s hydration.  Adding Epson salt to your bath is known to ease pain and relieve inflammation, making it beneficial in the treatment of sore muscles.

Salt Scrub
Full body salt exfoliations replenish the healthy minerals our skin needs as well as removes dry dead skin cells leaving your skin naturally radiant and renewed.  Salt and its beneficial minerals are also a healthy way to treat skin conditions as part of a body exfoliation.  KurSpa’s version of the salt scrub is called the crystal scrub. The crystal scrub utilizes Himalayan Salt mixed with invigorating citrus essential oils. Your body is polished velvety soft, and left with an energizing fresh feeling. Our signature massage body butter will nourish your body and complete you with a sense of balance.

“How to” at home
To make your own salt scrub, with finely ground Himalayan salt or sea salt, combine coconut oil and a splash of orange juice to the mixture. An easy do it yourself skin nourishing treatment. We recommend a full body exfoliation once per week before a warm shower.

A brand new way we hope to harness the healing benefits of salt at KurSpa this summer is with our new Himalayan Detox Massage, it will replenish and nourish the skin with 84 naturally occurring minerals. Being massaged with the Himalayan stones helps balance the positive ions with negative ions, this can help reduce inflammation. In this treatment the salt stones are warmed and applied during a 30 minute back neck and shoulder massage, giving clients additional heat to allow the organic trace minerals in the stones to penetrate into the skin and body. Completing this therapeutic treatment is a 30 minute Himalayan salt exfoliation.  Himalayan salt is anti-micro-bacterial making this a truly detoxifying full body experience.

Overall salt when it is in its natural state is a wonderful source of minerals and is extremely healthy for our bodies. Only when it’s processed and overused in cooking does it become a health concern rather than a valuable resource to improve our well-being.
