How long have you been with us at Sparkling Hill?
Since April 2018

What do you like most about working for a Health and Wellness Resort?
The peaceful, relaxing environment. The incredible views of the valley and Okanagan Lake and helping guests achieve holistic health and wellbeing.

What is your role and what does a typical day in your role look like?
Resort Runner. I am the one that provides guests with in room needs such as fresh amenities, ice and other requests. As well as assisting housekeeping to maintain resort wide cleanliness.

What is your favorite part of your job/what do you find most satisfying?
Seeing the looks of pure joy and fascination on guest faces as they come into the resort or see their rooms and working within the different departments. My managers and supervisors do such a good job, it makes my job easier and more enjoyable.

What is something special that you have done to “wow” a guest/ make a guest’s day?
In general I try to make everything I do for the guests worthy of a “WOW” response. Whether it be by providing them with fast, prompt service or just keeping public areas clean and sparkling. But on one occasion, I assisted a guest with a proposal service by setting up roses, chocolates and sparkling wine in the room while they were at dinner. (She Said Yes!!)

Life in General

Tell us about your background. Where are you originally from?
Born in Edmonton, Alberta. I grew up in Dawson Creek and Grand Forks, BC. I went to Cranbrook, BC for college and have been a residential care aide since 2011. In 2017 I decided to make a change and therefore applied at Sparkling Hill. I have one sister in Kelowna. My parents are located in Grand Forks and my extended family is in Salmon Arm area.

What are you passionate about?
Harry Potter and Broadway musicals to name a few.

What motivates you?
When my accomplishments are acknowledged by the people around me. Knowing I have made a positive impact on people around me. I really just aim to please in whatever way I can. Big or small.

What do you think is the best thing about living in the Okanagan?
My family being in the area is a major factor especially my niece Hadley. Being able to watch her grow and change every day is one of life’s greatest joys! I also love being so close to biking trails, all the lakes and the beautiful weather we have.

If you could have any superpower what would it be?
Invisibility or ability to survive underwater.

Who has been your hero? Someone that you look up to in life?
JK Rowling. For proving that even when you are at your rock bottom the only way to go is up and that you can achieve anything you put your mind to. And my family, for always being there to support me and give me advice when I need it. They have been a constant rock for me through good times and bad.

How do you incorporate Health and Wellness into your life?
By eating healthy on a day to day basis and going for walks on the trials in the surrounding areas. I enjoy biking, snowboarding and swimming in the lakes here in the Okanagan as well as back home in Grand Forks.
